Hello...I'm glad you have found me!

My name is Matilda Chew, a migrant to beautiful Australia from sunny, tropical Singapore. I am a Clinical Psychologist, Shamballa reiki practitioner, animal communicator, and former nurse. Having grown up in a multi-cultural society, I believe in working with each person's cultural, ethnic and community background. This includes inter-generational or ancestral blueprint, morals and values. I am also a lover of spirituality and transcendence. Shadow work is not new to me, so I understand what an intense but meaningful journey that can be!

My hope is that you would find our journey together to be a compassionate and purposeful one and that our time together would create a space where you are able to find meaning, resolution and personal empowerment. My approach is integrative and person-centered, with a strong focus on humanistic, attachment and parts orientations, along with the incorporation of EMDR (accredited practitioner with EMDRAA) and mindfulness-based (mind-body-spirit connection) approaches through a relational and attachment lens.

I strongly believe that each person is unique and deserves to be treated holistically. Therefore, I come to you from the foundation of marrying psychology with spirituality/ energetic pathways and opening the therapeutic space to other suitable therapies should this be brought to our awareness in session. This explains why I am purposefully based in a space that has been created mindfully and lovingly to provide a healing environment.

Personally, I have a special interest in grief and loss, and end-of-life issues across the human lifespan, including death and dying, grief, navigating losses, psychological impact of chronic life-limiting illnesses, and bereavement. I also have a special place in my heart for journeying with individuals who have experienced or who are experiencing trauma (particularly family-of-origin and inter-generational trauma), new migrant adjustment difficulties, life transitions, peri-natal mental health challenges (particularly perinatal trauma and loss), and family-of-origin challenges.

I am also a board-approved clinical supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia and can provide supervision for those going through the Clinical Registrar Program.

In my free time, you would find me enjoying a yoga or Pilates session or two, dabbling with my oracle card collection which is growing by the season, practicing meditation, spending time around animals and in nature (especially swimming in lakes, rivers and waterfalls!), and trying my luck at creating my own sustainable food garden. I am adopted by a beautiful rescued cat who has journeyed with me through various transitions, and who reminds me daily about the beauty of unconditional love and unconditional regard.

I see adult clients from the age of 21 years old and above. Please note that Indigo Space is NOT a bulk-billing practice.

It is the spiritual freedom which cannot be taken away, which makes life meaningful and purposeful.
